These terms are the agreement between you and HalfYours (New Zealand) ("we") for the use of the HalfYours app. By using the app you accept them. They are written to be read, not to be survived.
HalfYours is an entertainment app for couples. It presents a fictional court, presided over by a fictional judge, that issues daily challenges and comments on your record. The legal framing — the "case", the "settlement", the three-year countdown — is a running joke inspired by New Zealand relationship property law.
You must be at least 17 years old. The app contains suggestive adult content. You are responsible for keeping your device secure — anyone holding your unlocked phone can read what is in the app.
HalfYours is built for two. When you link with a partner, you create a shared file: what you write into it is visible to them, and it cannot be divided afterwards. Deleting the account erases the record for both of you. Consider this before you link, and before you delete.
What you write stays yours. You grant us only the narrow permission needed to store it and show it to your partner inside the app. We do not publish it, sell it, license it, or use it to train anything.
You agree not to use HalfYours to harass, threaten or coerce anyone — including your partner — and not to enter content that is unlawful. The app is a private space between two consenting adults, and it must remain one.
We do our best to keep the app running, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Features may change, and content may be added or removed. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export or delete your record.
Parts of HalfYours may require a paid subscription. If so: the price, duration and renewal terms are shown before purchase; payment is taken by Apple; subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; you manage and cancel them in your Apple account settings, not here. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policy.
The app is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from its use. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including, where applicable, your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act or mandatory consumer protections in your country.
You may stop at any time by deleting your account in Settings. We may suspend an account that breaches these terms, or that is used to harm someone.
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION]. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
